Of all the iambs, tropes and feet
that coax us each to find a seat,
the unexpected anapests
from laurelled colleagues, honored guests
from images to metaphor
there are two words we listen for
that free our minds, release our cares
and raise our bodies from our chairs.

She's also a painter, and has exhibited her work throughout the southeast.
